So you had a fox 34 130 mm on that bike ?
It sounds like what you want is a Giant Trance 🤷♂️ mine is 28lbs but seems like it has the geo and characteristics you're looking for
Cool review! Do you think it would be wise to go for Stumpy 15 instead of Epic Evo if I want to hit bike parks but also do a lot of pedal trips? I don't do big features but I am afraid that I would bottom out regularly even on medium drops and stuff. Lighter, pedal efficient bike would feel great though.
@@sheevthewireless110 if your getting a stumpy pro and up model, I would get the stumpy. Those models weigh just a couple of lbs more than an Epic Evo and the capability of the stumpy is worth it.
@@jctrails I will most likely go for the S-works Stumpy 15 frameset and build the rest then. I guess you really can't go wrong with that platform. Thanks for the quick response mate!
Looking at getting this bike as a ex-demo/hire bike at a bike centre in the UK for around £450. Is that still worth it? Also, did you mention in the video that the tyres are not quick release?
@@IrfanOomer if it’s in good shape I would say yes it’s worth it.
2024 SC superlight lol
I'm only 5'6" and have tested a medium and large and will probably go with the large, it just feels right.
@@YoshiV819 yeah the medium felt small.
Looks like a lot of downhill/machine made trails - reminds me of a bike park. Any tech/climby trails for those of us that grew up MTBing in new england? Seems like all the new trails I see remind of the green circles at Highland MTB, which are fun going down but get boring and remind of riding a mountain coaster after a while, not really single track in the traditional sense (like Kingdom Trails for example).
Just snagged what I assume is the last s4 22’ stumpjumper comp alloy for 2500. Thinking at this point stumps will be out of my price bracket. It’s like what Chevy did to the Corvette. No longer an everyday man’s bike.
Hey what would you recommend for a 5’11 /180cm dude looking for a nimble/balanced rig?
@@morgandewette4638 S4
Is that stem spec? It looks so long compared to all the marketing material.
@@eeek5127 it’s the factory stem.
@@jctrails thanks! One more questions- did those water bottle cages come with it?
@@jimmesser2148 they did
Sh#t! too many jargon words. Its just a bike.
Great riding partner! I met you here last weekend. E bike all the way now! I hated having to ride my Amish bike. My buddy broke my chain and I need a new drivetrain. Great bbq. Cheers 🍻
Did you have to make any changes to the delux ultimate ?
im 205 cm tall and 115 kg Do you think the coil shock would be too soft for me?
I can’t believe they are still speccing bikes with 175 mm cranks. I’m 6’1” and ride 165. Granted, I have short legs but it’s been pretty well proven that shorter cranks are usually a better choice and most pros have gone that way. Less peddle strikes and faster cadence and opens up hip angles for anyone with any hip impingement issues, which is a lot of people.

I wanna get it but damn my levo sl is sooo fun. What do you think.
You look like you’re having a lot of fun on that ride. I’d be curious to compare this bike against the new I is ripley/ripmo that is launching. Great review here. 😂
Nice bike, I had the Tallboy 2018 and it looks very similar🤔. I loved that bike.
I have the gt. I need to work on it.
at 12.20 the experiment says it all about capability of this bike. Probably yu mad eme decide to go and take a SWORKS at 50% discount
I wish they sold that colourway in my country. I really like the mint green one too though. Plus I don't think I would splash out for the Pro model. Expert is good enough for me.
I picked up the 27.5 of this same model year recently. I’m a short guy, like 5”4. And your video popped up on its own on my feed. Weird
Too many great bikes out there marked way down to spend this kind of money.
Alright. I know you said you wouldn’t sell an evo to get it but if you can only have one bike, does that change your mind. I’m looking for the best all arounder and the 4 spacers in that genie might be the reason I can feel close to down country and then adjust to feel closer to the evo. Is that a bad misconception?
@@kentao4 hmm… it’s still not a top fuel or epic evo but it feels light like one. The stumpy Evo has a more planted and heavy feel to it, more Enduro bike. So I guess if I could only have one bike it would be the 15.
@@jctrailsone more curveball. ‘23 stumpy pro is on sale. I can get one for 5800. Does that change your mind at all? I have a set of Roval controls for pedal days and it comes with the carbon traverses for the fun days. What do you think?
What brand are those sunglasses you're wearing?
@@nightowl1659 Fokley, fake Oakleys I bought in Mexico😛
how is this supoed to work? there are even no guides for rear mech cable .... lol ....
It’s a different bike with the name stump jumper on it. The asymmetric design was a trademark. That’s like releasing a 911 with a different design language. You eat with your eyes first.
Not really. After all, the original iconic Stumpjumpers were steel rigid bikes -- no asymmetric frames there! If the name means anything other than mere marketing, it designates Specialized's all-around do everything trail bike rather than any specific technology.
What helmet is that?
What trail this?

The stump jumper evo or this for xc riding in CT?
I would just get an Evo or a commencal this shit is stupidly over priced
I am your same height and also ride a Large epic evo 8 but I am thinking of going with the s3 on the stumpy. How do you feel on the sizing of both bikes?
@@ShredKC The L (S4)epic has a long top tube number, which allows you to breath on those flat sprint section. The M (S3)stumpy fits well. The wide bars high stack height and low BB spread you out in a different way.
@@jctrails could the stumpy be a do it all and climb well enough to ditch the epic evo 8?
Being a short travel guy like myself, did you prefer last year’s stumpy when you factor in weight and price? Also, what made you go from your top fuel to a fuel?
Good work 👍🏻 Looks like a fun do it all bike.
@@livefreeandshred9818 that’s exactly what it is. The do it all bike, I think you would enjoy riding it.
I have a 2021 S Works I did not think it would get better. Suspension must be dialed in on all SJs. My 16 S Works 27.5 is a beast on tight trails.
@@maxmartz4665 The 21 flex stay bike is a more efficient bike. So if you prioritize efficiency, it’s a better bike for you.

Glad they did away with the 2 model lineup. If you need more bike just go Enduro. Looks sexy as hell. Only (major) downside is no mechanical shifting. I ride a lot, but won't buy this because I just prefer to leave batteries out of my cycling and prefer Shimano. I know I am not alone and hope they come out with a V2.0 that allows for mechanical shifting.

How does it compare to the current Hightower? Sounds pretty similar, and I really like the new rear sus design. Very clean and likely lighter and quicker.
I've a V2 HT and am interested in know how the two compare as well!
I wouldn't say the most iconic Geez. Neither the most generic but somewhere in the middle 😂
I was looking to buy a Blur. Needed to wait till the new ones come out next month. Accidently found your video on the Blurvelo. Got interested and started researching it. Ended up buying a 120 gx build from Mikes Bikes. Just needed to order a one up v3 dropper to go along with it.
@@XCBen hope you enjoy it. It’s a solid bike.
The Stumpjumper is back!!!
I've found personally that the 140 ish rear travel is about right for almost all situation except for like big bike park stuff...but I never ride that and not into jump lines. Blacks and double blacks...no problem, blues...piece of cake...seems the 30ish lbs bike is the norm for trail bikes. Nice looking bike though, bravo Specialized for making less choices! I also have the Mavens on my bike, they are crazy good, I love having more power then less.
Mavens.....finally SRAM has matched Shimano brakes. Welcome to the club!
